Spencer and Allie have a shared love for wine so Bridlewood Winery in Santa Ynez was the perfect location for their engagement session!

If you have ever lived in California then you know that rain decides to pour down whenever it wants…

We came prepared and this session will go down in my book as one of my all time favorites! Some may call us crazy for shooting at a winery in the wintertime on a rainy day, but it was more fun than you could ever imagine! Rain is good luck for couples and if anyone deserves good luck it’s these two! Spencer and Allie, thank you for being so awesome and for sticking it out in the rain!

I loved the red vines and that Allie used this color scheme for her outfits…

Allie and Spencer’s proposal story from Allie’s prospective~ “Spencer and I travelled to Seattle to visit my family before he started his internship. (His family is in Santa Barbara). He said I could plan the whole weekend, except one day, because he wanted to plan “a day of nostalgia” from his first trip to Seattle with me. We plan surprise days for each other all the time so this wasn’t out of the ordinary.

On the surprise day, our first stop was to a waterfall, Snoqualmie Falls. I had taken him there 5 years before, and we had a really special moment, and he told me he was going to marry me someday. Since then, we’ve gone to the falls every time we are in Seattle.

So we were at the bottom of the falls and he pulled me in close and asked me if I remembered what had happened there. I said of course, and laughed and said we should go up top. He pulled me in closer and said, “no let’s enjoy this for a little bit”. Then he looked at me and said, “So, 5 years ago, on March 5, 2011, we were here and I told you I was going to marry you someday”. I said “Aw wow that’s very specific. I know I loved that day!”. Then he said, “And then on May, 7……..” I realized what was happening and blacked out. He had to tell me later what he said. I started crying I was so overwhelmed with every good emotion! (Like… the ugly cry. You’ll see in the pictures.) He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I just shook my head yes over and over again. He stood up and held me for a minute and then he said, “Look.”

So I looked to my left and standing there taking pictures and video, was my best friend and his best friend, who had flown into Seattle from LA. So then I started crying more! 🙂 And then he had an entire weekend planned for all of us – an engagement weekend. We went wine tasting, went to the beach, had a beautiful dinner on the lake. It was perfect. I could not have asked for a more amazing engagement moment.

After Bridlewood Winery we headed to downtown Santa Barbara for some photos with Dakota!

She’s very shy and it took some strange noises for her to actually look at my camera…Isn’t she the cutest?!

Peter and I have been dreaming of the day that we would have the opportunity to shoot in the rain just for this shot…
