I’ve known Lauren & Sam for a few years now. We met through a mutual friend while in college & never did I imagine I would be so lucky to document some of the most important events in their lives. From the birth of their baby boy to their engagement, and now their wedding. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them. After meeting in San Marcos, living in Oceanside, planning a wedding in Dana Point… their love story has brought them all over the Southern California coast so there was no other perfect place then Santa Monica beach for their engagement session.

College marks a pivotal point in every person’s life, as it paves the way for a bright future ahead. This is where our story begins, but of course, not where it ends. One of the fundamental components to the college experience is the numerous social gatherings that facilitate connections between like-minded individuals. In a setting just like this, Lauren and Samuel first met and began building their relationship with one another, unbenounced to what life had in store for them.

Love often presents itself to those not necessarily looking for it; though, from the first moments Lauren and Samuel laid eyes on one another, the two felt an extraordinary connection. After a night filled with Angry Birds and carefree conversations, the two committed to “just go with it” and explore this special bond that naturally existed between them. From this moment on, the two were inseparable, tackling college life by each other’s side.

Only a few months into their relationship, Lauren and Samuel faced their first challenge, as Samuel prepared to leave for a summer abroad in England. Despite a rocky goodbye, the two remained in touch throughout the weeks and received their biggest surprise while away from each other. “You’re going to be a dad!” exclaimed Lauren in an email. Significantly, the two chose to see this as a blessing and an opportunity to embark on an even more beautiful journey with one another: parenthood. Although the two were a part for the first trimester, Lauren and Samuel further solidified their love within the thousands of emails and numerous Skype calls exchanged during those months.

Someone once mentioned that true love is the soul’s recognition of its counterpoint in another and that’s what Lauren and Samuel have found. Prior to the proposal, Samuel recognized this understanding and truly felt fated to be with Lauren. At sunset, by the ocean shore, Lauren graciously accepted Samuel’s proposal and the two set forth to share all the beautiful treasures to be found in this life.
