Bruce and Sophie went above and beyond with their ideas for their Los Angeles Engagement Session. We started out at the dreamy Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills where we explored incredible architecture and perfectly manicured gardens. If you haven’t checked out Greystone Mansion yet you definitely need to add it to your list! The mansion is incredible and the views of Los Angeles are breathtaking! Their session continued in Malibu after picking up some oysters from Santa Monica Seafood for a picnic on the beach. These two were destined to meet and after 15 years together they are tying the knot next year at Richard Nixon Library! Scroll down to read more about their story from their perspectives.
Sophie: It was February 19, 2000 when my single friends and I went out to celebrate the end of the dreaded Valentine’s Day. We decided to meet up with another friend at the Block in Orange. She was already there, sitting at an outdoor Starbucks table with this really good looking guy next to her. After introductions, I kept sneaking glances at Bruce, thinking how handsome he is with his dimples and perfect complexion. He exuded this quiet mysterious air, with a little bit of a bad boy bubbling beneath the surface of a very composed and reserved demeanor, which kind of intimidated me. I didn’t think there was any chance he would be interested, so it was a complete surprise when he started chatting me up on AIM, which progressed to hours of late night phone calls. Bruce took me to a rave as a first date. Considering I was still in high school and living a very sheltered life, to say I was very nervous would be an understatement. He was incredibly kind and protective of me the entire night, and the festive atmosphere was the perfect setting for us to be ourselves and not have to worry about impressing one another. I felt an immediate closeness to Bruce from that night forth, and our relationship has truly lived up to the namesake of our first date: How Sweet It Is.
Bruce: I had just gotten over a bad break up, and my ex’s little sister dragged me out of the house to cheer me up. I was reluctant to go, but as luck would have it, that’s how I met Sophie. We lived completely different lives and I don’t think our paths would ever have crossed had it not been for that night. I remember very clearly when I first laid eyes on her. She was like an angelic apparition, slowly appearing from the horizon as she walked towards me, with her long flowing red hair reflecting off the last rays of light as the sun began to set. One look at her big beautiful eyes and shy smile, I was completely smitten. I wanted to impress her, but was so nervous that I couldn’t think of anything clever to say, so I kept quiet most of the time. We flirted a lot online and had long conversations on the phone before I got enough courage to ask her out. By the time we saw each other again, it felt completely natural, like we’ve known each other forever, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
