Santa Barbara is one of my favorite cities for engagement sessions. There are so many different environments, gorgeous architecture, and beautiful natural light. For Daniella and Sagi’s Santa Barbara Engagement session we started at the courthouse and then moved to the harbor. After shooting this session I can assure you that their wedding is going to be one for the record books!
Sagi & Daniella’s proposal story from the bride and groom to be : “I love telling this story. So Sagi and I planned a trip to Israel and Italy for a little vacation, which was our first time back in Israel since we had met five years earlier. After an amazing week in the country that brought us together, we flew out to Rome. Since we were only spending one night there before heading to Florence and Cinque Terre, we jam-packed our day site-seeing: The Vatican, Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum and of course eating as much as possible.
Sagi took his backpack with him everywhere (the ring was in there). It was pretty hot and we were walking around ALL day, so at one point when we were at the Vatican, I told him to leave his backpack in a corner and we could pick it up on the way back. He said no way, and convinced me he needed it for the camera and our water bottles (which were almost never inside the backpack). Little did I know he was waiting for the right moment to propose.
I wanted to see the Trevi Fountain at nighttime, so after dinner we walked there together and took a bunch of photos after staring at the fountain in awe. We went down the steps to a corner where Sagi “wanted to take more pictures.” A man with a polaroid camera approached us and asked if he could take our photo, and I told him no thanks. He was pushy (and so was I), but then Sagi said to just let him do it. He first took a few shots with our camera, after asking Sagi: “is this your wife?” to which he responded: “not yet…”
He grabbed his polaroid to take a few more pictures and the next thing I know Sagi is down on one knee. I don’t really remember what happened after that (by the way, the camera guy was not in on it — it was just perfect timing). But after maybe 5-10 minutes of shock I said “of course!” and everyone around us clapped and awwed. Someone even threw down a rose for him to give me. Pretty sure there’s a video of his proposal somewhere on YouTube…It was truly fairy-tale-romantic and one of the greatest moments of my life!!! “
